In the beginning, it was just the two of us. Juliet was the very first "family member" to join my life, and she was my constant companion for nearly three full years in California.
When Juliet first came home, she was only 8 weeks old and so incredibly tiny—no bigger than a little mouse. She could squeeze into almost any gap or disappear under the furniture in the blink of an eye. I remember constantly worrying about how to coax her out from under my 5-drawer dresser!
But she didn't just hide; she claimed every corner of the house as her own. I’d find her perched on my headboard, curled up on my duvet, or even lounging in the bathroom sink.
Her curiosity was boundless. Whenever something new entered the house, she had to be the first one to inspect it with her tiny nose. To this day, she still prefers sipping from my water glass over her own bowl, and she’d much rather snuggle in my bed than use her own cat tree. She even tried to get a taste of my latest Starbucks drink!
Looking back at these photos, I realize she wasn't just a pet; she was the heart of my home from day one.
